8 Tips for Entertaining in a Small Space – Part 1

You don’t have to own a mansion to be an expert entertainer, so don’t let the illusion of less space in your new apartment get you down. If you’re an avid party host planning on purchasing an apartment, these tips and tricks should help you get the most out of your new space for your next event.

Clear away the clutter
Make sure your apartment is neat and tidy by stashing away any items taking up unnecessary space. Clear out as much clutter as possible in any areas your guests will frequent. For example: in the bathroom, clear away all personal toiletry items to give a roomier feel to your space. You may also want to clear all the counter tops in your kitchen by removing unnecessary appliances – you’ll definitely need this space for serving later.

Make room to move
You may want to consider rearranging your furniture to better suit your party requirements. You’ll be surprised what a difference moving your couch up against a wall can make for creating the illusion of more room.

Have a designated area for coats and bags
Get those bulky bags and coats out of the way by allowing your guests to dump them on the bed or in an unused cupboard in your bedroom or guest room. This way they stored away safely and not taking up any more of your potential entertainment space.

Consider disposable dishware
Disposable dishware is one way of keeping dishes from piling up in the sink and taking up space as the evening progresses. Remember that paper and plastic cups are no longer as plain and boring as they used to be, so don’t be afraid to shop around for something that suits your style if you’re worried about what your guests will think.
