Welcome to the second part of this two-part blog on things to do in and around East Legon. Part 1 took a look at things to do closer to your new home in this fast-growing Ghanaian suburb. In Part 2, we’ve compiled some activities for those looking for adventure a little further away from home.
Get closer to nature
Round up the family and prepare for a mini road trip as you travel to the Aburi Botanical Gardens. Approximately an hour’s drive from your new home, the gardens boast a wide collection of tropical fauna sprawled across 64.8 hectares. The gardens are perfect for an afternoon of relaxation as you wind through palm-lined pathways, taking in Ghana’s natural beauty.
Shop until you drop
Everyone loves a good shopping spree every once in a while, so why not haggle it out at the Makola Market, Ghana’s renowned marketplace and shopping district in the centre of the city of Accra. From fresh produce to car parts, the market is sure to have something for everyone.
Get in touch with some cultural heritage
If you’re looking for something on the educational side of things, a trip to the National Museum of Ghana is a good way to get the ball rolling. The museum has three primary collection areas, namely archaeology, ethnography and art. These collections are used to paint the picture of Ghana’s rich cultural history. If you’re a student, you might be interested to know that the museum offers internship opportunities to students from all disciplines.
Now that you know East Legon has lots to offer, contact Mobus to find out how you can join this community with a purchase in Phoenix Villas – if you haven’t already.
